RXR Realty & Airbnb Launch Hospitality Partnership for New York City

A powerful collaboration to provide travelers access to iconic NYC locations, one-of-a-kind local experiences and authentically designed accommodations that blend the features of a luxury hotel with all the comforts of a home.

RXR Realty,  one of New York City’s largest real estate owners, investors, operators and developers, and   Airbnb, the world’s largest community-driven hospitality company, announced an innovative partnership to convert portions of iconic NYC commercial properties into a new category of urban lodging, made available exclusively through the Airbnb platform.

The partnership will leverage the respective best-in-class attributes of each company to re-imagine how urban hospitality can provide all the comforts of home in locally-designed, beautiful hospitality suites, while providing guests with curated authentic NYC experiences and a sense of community typically reserved for locals.

Guests will be supported by a digitally-enabled, dedicated concierge service — staffed by local and knowledgeable “hosts” — who will provide guests with a highly personalized experience that allows them to access and navigate the world’s greatest city like a local New Yorker. Whether traveling on business or with family and friends, guests will have the opportunity to step outside the “tourist bubble” and experience a wide-array of diverse and authentic New York experiences.

The first incarnation of this partnership is planned for the landmarked 75 Rockefeller Plaza in Midtown Manhattan. RXR and Airbnb are also exploring collaboration at other RXR properties, such as RXR’s 47 Hall Street project across from the Brooklyn Navy Yard in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.

RXR will be responsible for the execution and operation of the locations. Guests will find these new spaces exclusively through Airbnb’s global platform. The two companies will collaborate on room and building design, the development of a people-powered concierge model, the curation of local experiences, services and amenities, and innovations in technologies and processes for the local/global traveler.

The RXR/Airbnb new urban hospitality product will be consistent with and supportive of the relevant operating regulations and standards of the hardworking men and women of organized labor, including the New York Hotel Trades Council and SEIU 32BJ.

Completion of these projects remain subject to finalization of definitive documentation and obtaining requisite approvals.

75 Rockefeller Plaza in Midtown Manhattan
With spectacular views of some of the world’s most iconic landmarks and located only steps away from public transportation, the headquarters of hundreds of global businesses, and many of New York’s must-see attractions, guest accommodations at 75 Rockefeller Plaza will reflect the character of its Rockefeller Center location and the city beyond.

Occupying 10 floors, the new space will offer guests high-end apartment-style suites with a diverse mix of amenities including:

  • Check-in / check-out services, tech-enabled access, security systems, and first-in-class customer service in the lobby that connects 51st and 52nd Streets
  • Access to a private social club and business center located on the building’s top floor. Amenities include a range of culinary experiences, cultural programming, meeting and event space, collaborative working areas and common areas
  • Access to a new, ground-floor restaurant and bar adjacent to the lobby

Individually curated and custom-designed hotel suites within the space will be designed to feel like luxurious and comfortable apartment-style suites, complete with fully-stocked kitchens.  In addition to containing state-of-the-art technology, this space offers unparalleled views of Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and the Empire State Building.  With their “Main and Main” location — on the same blocks as Radio City Music Hall and the 21 Club — each suite will put guests in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. The Rockefeller Center Ice Skating Rink and Christmas Tree, MoMa and Central Park are just steps away.

47 Hall Street in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn
