Glen Isle Receives Best Mixed-Use Project - 2010 Smart Growth Award

(New York, April 12, 2010) Vision Long Island has announced that its 2010 Smart Growth Award for best mixed-use project has been awarded to the innovative RXR Glen Isle Partners community, planned as the centerpiece of the redevelopment of Glen Cove’s underutilized waterfront. The organization selected the RXR Glen Isle development in recognition of its leadership attributes in advancing Smart Growth design, policies, regulations and initiatives.

Glen Isle will transform a former Brownfield into a vibrant, active mixed-use waterfront community accessible to everyone, re-inventing the City of Glen Cove’s waterfront along the shores of Hempstead Harbor adjacent to Garvies Point Preserve. Glen Isle’s forward-thinking design offers a combination of residential, hospitality/spa facilities, office, and a myriad of cultural, retail and dining establishments. In addition, Glen Isle will bring high quality, landscaped public parks and pedestrian plazas, all connected by a waterfront esplanade, walking and cycling paths as well as a restored public beach for the enjoyment of residents and visitors.

Vision Long Island’s Smart Growth Awards 9th annual event will be held on June 18th and will honor individuals and organizations with specific focus areas including mixed-use development, affordable housing, environmental health and safety, open space and historic preservation, traffic calming and pedestrian safety, transportation enhancements, clean energy, downtown revitalization and/or community based planning.

RXR Honors Members of New Jersey’s Real Estate Community at Annual Awards Gala

RXR Realty LLC (“RXR”) recently held its annual holiday gala at One Giralda Farms in Madison, N.J. This event, widely attended by New Jersey’s top real estate executives, is traditionally recognized as one of the largest and most highly anticipated annual industry gatherings in the region.

At the gala, RXR presented two “Broker of the Year” Awards. These awards are given to those brokers in acknowledgement of their success and achievements in a highly creative or sizeable transaction at a RXR property, which has had a notable impact on the market. In addition to the award, the Brokers of the Year receive a $5,000 donation from RXR to the Morristown Memorial Cancer Center. Douglas A. Gaffney (pictured), Senior Managing Director, The Schultz Organization received the award in the office category in recognition of the 41,384-square-foot lease for Schwartz, Simon, Edelstein Celso and Kessler at 44 Whippany Road in Morristown, N.J. In addition, Frank Kobola, CCIM, Associate, Colliers Houston & Co., received the award in the flex category for the 24,000-square-foot lease of the Snyders of Hanover Distribution Center at 400 Forge Way in Rockaway, N.J.
